When are Tryouts for Club Volleyball?

Tejas Volleyball will utilize an Evaluation Period from August - October. During this Evaluation Period, the Tejas Volleyball coaches will let you know where they see you fitting in when actual tryouts take place.  New in 2016, clubs are not allowed to make a written offer or accept payments for 2017 club season dues prior to the official Signing Date for each specific age group.  The Tejas Volleyball Club will hold an official tryout on the official tryout/signing date set for each specific age group by the North Texas Region.  During the Evaluation Period, Tejas Volleyball will inform athletes/parents where they stand before the actual tryout weekend. This will eliminate any surprises leading up to the tryout weekend.  We have been very forthcoming with our athletes/families prior to the tryout/signing weekend and will continue that practice this club season.

Tryout/Signing Dates for Each Age Group

10s-13s September 23

14s-15s September 30
15s-18s October 7

How to be Evaluated for a Tejas Volleyball Club Team

  • Attend as many Tejas Volleyball Camps/Clinics as possible
  • Communicate with Tejas Volleyball Coaches in your age group about your interest in playing at Tejas Volleyball

The level and number of teams per age group will be decided at tryouts. Once tryouts have ended, we will invite a number of athletes to join a specific team.  An athletes’ spot on a team is established once the NTR Offer and Acceptance Form has been signed by all parties, Tejas Volleyball has been selected as the club you are playing for in Webpoint, and the non-refundable first payment installment has been paid. Additional payments will be due according to the teams payment schedule.

We recommend athletes attend all evaluation sessions for their age group. While we appreciate the need to be evaluated for other clubs,  attending all of our evaluation clinics will give us the best opportunity to see each athlete. During our tryout process, the athletes will undergo several evaluations where each athlete is individually rated on his or her skill level in all areas, then evaluated by position.  The players are then placed into teams so their overall court skills, attitude, and interaction with others players can be evaluated. Creating game-like situations is a priority throughout the tryouts.

The tryout process can be one of the most difficult things an athlete and parents will do all year long. It is also difficult on the coaches as well.  There are many decisions and factors involved when choosing a team.  We have tried to make this as comfortable as possible for all parties involved.
